Heartworm Awareness

A few years ago, Dr. Healey was interviewed back in April 2018 about the rise of Heartworm disease in Oregon. Today, it is still a concern for pets in the Oregon area. On average, 6 to 25 cases of Heartworm disease have been found in the state of Oregon, which is why it is important to visit your pet for yearly testing and to give your pet monthly preventatives all year round.
As there are more than a million cases of Heartworm disease in the United States alone, it is important to educate yourself on this deadly disease. A great resource to use is the American Heartworm Society (AHS), which you can find by clicking on this link. You can also watch this video provided by the AHS to learn the basics of Heartworm and how it is spread.
